Jeehoon Seo

Jeehoon Seo is a Korean American writer/director based in Los Angeles. Inspired by his cross-cultural upbringing, his coming of age narratives focus on identity and his relationships that celebrate community and heritage. Born in Seoul, raised in Boston, he discovered his passion for filmmaking in Zaragoza, Spain during his junior year abroad in high school. After fulfilling his two year military service in the Korean Army, Seo graduated from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film & TV and a double minor in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology & Child Adolescent Mental Studies.

 

His debut short film 20s.30s., premiered at the Micheaux Film Festival in 2023. His subsequent thesis film JESA, premiered at the 47th Asian American International Film Festival in 2024. Seo is a 2024 Hollywood Radio & Television Society Foundation Fellowship finalist as well as a Top 50 writer in the 2024 ISA Fast Track Fellowship. He is currently developing his first feature, FC BIG APPLE, a Korean soccer romcom, and will begin his MFA at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Spring 2026.
